Fifth Grade Trip

The “Wild Wild West” is the theme for the Fifth Grade three-day trip.
Exploring White Sands National Monument on day one affords students an opportunity to gather information for comparing forest and desert biomes, and the class always enjoys playing in the dunes and a picnic lunch in this unique area before heading to Alto. Each night the group lodges at Mountain View Christian Camp with time for playing games, team building activities, and devotionals. On day two, students embark on a robust hike to Argentina Peak in Lincoln National Forest and White Mountain Wilderness where they learn more about forest succession and care for the environment. The first stop on day three is in Lincoln, New Mexico, where a scavenger hunt through this Old West town illustrates the days of Billy the Kid and the Lincoln County War. On the way home, the group continues its exploration of local history with a final stop at Fort Stanton Historic Site.
