Fourth Grade Trip
For many Fourth Grade students, this may be their first trip to Carlsbad Caverns.
Entering through the Natural Entrance, they spend the day exploring the caverns and return at dusk to observe the bat flight from the park’s outdoor amphitheater. The Black River Center for Learning is home for the evening with time for team building and recreational activities. On day two the class heads to Guadalupe Mountains National Park. An ambitious hike through McKittrick Canyon leads the class over hills and across creeks to Pratt Lodge where they eat lunch on the trail and enjoy the scenery. On the bus ride home they share stories of huge bats and wildlife encounters.
